Finally, however, the interview from episode #256 of Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction is available to view online. In this episode we welcome back author Connie Willis. Mrs. Willis, who has won many, many awards for her work, has recently been given the SFWA Grand Master Award (a recognition of lifetime achievement in the field). In this interview Mrs. Willis talks about the early days of her career, her love of movies, and the trepidation of having her work adapted for the screen. She also discusses her research and writing process, and talks about plot versus character.

The interview from Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction Episode #255 is now available to view.  This month we feature an interview with artist extraordinaire Bob Eggleton!  In the interview Mr. Eggleton talks about his lifelong fascination with dinosaurs, spaceships and art, and how his painting career developed.  He also discusses working with various media, and why he currently loves to paint with oils.  He even provides some helpful advice to new painters.

Ann VanderMeer interview, FF #252

Episode #252 of Fast Forward: Contemporary Science Fiction is out.  Better late than never!  This month we look into our stack of “unpublished” interviews, and present both Ann and Jeff VanderMeer, recorded at Capclave 2010.  Ann and Jeff were both Guests of Honor at the convention, and were gracious enough to give us a few minutes of their time to talk about their work.

In our intervew with Ann VanderMeer, she talks about her early editing and publishing ventures, her work as editor-in-chief at Weird Tales magazine, and her collaborations with husband Jeff.  She also discusses her views on steampunk and new weird fiction.  (Please note that in August of 2011, Weird Tales was sold to another publisher and Ann left her editorial position at the magazine.  In November of 2011, she and Jeff launched Weird Fiction Review, a website that calls itself “your non-denominational source for the weird”.
